I have a theory that something, at least one piece, of your outfit needs to be comfy. Imagine a corset so tight you can barely breathe, a floor length pencil skirt and 6 inch wobbly stilettos. Yikes, that’s an outfit that scares me just thinking of it.

Maybe you’re just dying to wear your one-size-too-small, skin tight leather leggings that you have to jump for 10 minutes to squeeze into, it happens to us all! For me, that’s something that I’d pair with a tee and my most comfy pair of ankle boots.

That’s why I love sport or track pants. They’re so easy and relaxed I feel like I could do anything! Obviously you could wear them running errands, to the gym, even to sleep – but also know that you can totally dress them up. Wear them with pointy toed pumps and a blazer, for a chic, fashionable (and most importantly comfortable) look like I’ve done here. Black is an easy go-to color for any outing, but try a lighter color for summer too!

The lovely Reem and Natalya of Five Five Fabulous fabulousness are helping us celebrate the Month of Track across the pond and were lovely enough to field some of our burning questions! These are two style-savvy chicks who never fail to #StayOnTrack!

JC: What are some must see London destinations you would recommend to a visiting fashionista?

FFF: Definitely check out the V&A, there are always great exhibitions on throughout the year and Somerset House is always a must visit.

JC: What is your favorite season to dress for and why?

FFF: We both love fall and winter, it’s something about having to stay warm with tons of layers and executing style simultaneously that is such a challenge, but when you get it right it looks fabulous! In saying that, we are craving summer. Everyone at Coachella is making us very jealous right now!

JC: With Coachella just in the rearview, how would you dress up track for a festival this season?

FFF: By separating the pieces and working them in different looks. Although we are loving a head to toe look at the moment so sometimes it’s good to go back to basics.

JC: What are your favorite things to do when visiting NYC?

FFF: Definitely soak up the culture, eat a lot and of course hit up the stores! I [Reem] went for the first time when I was on the 777 tour with Rihanna and I fell in love with the vibrancy of the city. Natalya was there for a few weeks at the beginning of the year and called me up within 12 hours telling me she wanted to pack up and move there!

JC: Who’s your style icon?

FFF: We both love Caroline Issa and Emmanuelle Alt. Both very chic and subtly fashionable at all times.

JC: What is your fondest Juicy Track moment?

FFF: We remember begging our parents to extend our allowances so we could each buy some track. In the end Natalya and I were fighting over who should get which color — it was such a drama but so worth it!

JC: Happy Music Festival season! What festival are you most excited about this year?

CL: COACHELLA of course! I’ve been a dedicated Coachella attendee for a few years now.

JC: What bands are you particularly excited for at the big party in the desert?

CL: This year I’m most excited about Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’m also excited to see Phoenix, The Postal Service, Passion Pit, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Franz Ferdinand, and Baauer so I can do the Harlem Shake!

 JC: Any pre-festival rituals?

CL: We make Coachella playlists and listen to them on repeat a few weeks in advance!  Every year, without fail, we have THE best time in the car as we sing our hearts out to Coachella!

JC: What trends are you most excited about sporting and scouting?

CL: I’m excited to mix in my feminine pieces with casual and sporty looks. Think floral print shorts with a muscle tee.

JC: What beauty/personal item can you not live without for the long weekend?

CL: Sunscreen, eye cream, and bronzing lotion! Sunscreen for the most obvious reason, eye cream to perk up my eyes after a long night of shows and parties, and bronzing lotion for my legs since I’ll be wearing shorts all weekend long!

JC: What advice would you give a festival first timer?

CL: Be comfortable and wear comfy shoes! Bring a jacket with you, you never know when the temperature will drop, stay hydrated and bring a portable phone charger (it’s hard to find outlets to charge your phone!).

 JC: How many times have you been to/celebrated Coachella?

CL: This will be my 4th year!

1993, a year remembered for the likes of Nirvana, grunge, a doe-eyed Kate Moss and the start of the Clinton era, is the focal point of the New Museum’s current exhibition “NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash And No Star.” While some of us were still rocking floral print leggings and Keds to grade school in 1993, a collective movement of art, pop culture and politics was making waves throughout New York City. The exhibition attempts to capture this pivotal turning point, exhibiting iconic and emerging artists of the 90’s. Drawing its subtitle from the eponymous album of rock band Sonic Youth, “NYC 1993” makes a connection between mainstream and underground culture, shedding light on a prominent social and political moment in American culture.
